Year of St Francis

“We praise you, Lord, for Sister Earth,

Pope Leo has declared this year as the Jubilee Year of St Francis of Assisi, a special time for the Church to reflect upon his life and legacy.

St Francis is remembered for his deep love of God’s creation, his care for the poor, and his simple, joyful way of life. This Jubilee year invites us all to follow his example by caring for our world and one another.

To mark this important year, our school will be taking part in a variety of activities. The key themes we will be focusing on are:
• Care of Creation: Growing God's Garden
• Care of Creation: Looking after our Common Home
• Care of the Poor

Looking after our Common Home 

“The Lord God took the man and put him in the Garden of Eden to work it and take care of it.” (Genesis 2:15)

We are called to be good stewards of creation. This means that we are meant to look after the world that God created for us. We must work together to leave our world in a better condition for those who come after us.

 As we journey through the Year of St Francis, our whole school has been planting together.  As stewards of God’s creation, we are called to look after and protect our world.  

World Environment Day

 To mark World Environment Day, we wore green and took part in a special online assembly which encouraged us to think about the role we play in caring for our world.

 This Earth was created by every pupil and member of staff using their fingerprints — a reminder that we all share the responsibility of caring for our planet. We are all called to protect our common home.
