Solidarity and Peace
Solidarity means recognising others as our brothers and sisters and actively working towards their well-being. We are all connected, with people and communities around the world.
Peace Sunday
As part of our focus on Solidarity and Peace, Year 5/6 led the whole school Celebration of the Word based on the theme of the World Day of Peace 2026. Pope Leo chose the theme: ‘Peace be with you all: Towards an ‘unarmed and disarming’ peace.’
CST Solidarity and Peace Assembly
During assembly, the Pupil Leadership Team discussed what Solidarity and Peace means and what this looks like in our school. They asked us to think about what makes our class and play times peaceful and what stops the peace. Class pupil leaders will collate ideas from staff and pupils and put together a timetable of different play time games and activities.
Pilgrimage of Scripture: Peace walk in school
Bumblebees and Hedgehogs explored the Catholic Social Teaching theme of Solidarity and Peace. They learnt that Jesus calls us to be peacemakers, just as it says in Matthew 5:9.
Challenged by Miss Breslin to find where this scripture passage is displayed in the school, they set off on a special “Pilgrimage of Scripture” around the building. They found the scripture as well as the rest of the Beatitudes and felt so proud of how well they worked together! On their journey they explored other Religious Education displays.
What does Peace look like?
We thought about what peace looks like at home, at school and in our world. We also reflected on how we can be a peacemaker.
Praying for Peace in our World
During our Remembrance Mass and two minute silence, we pray for all who help to bring peace to our world.
In November, we also fundraise for The Royal British Legion. This charity provides life-long support to serving and ex-serving members of the British Armed Forces and their families.
