Mutual Respect

St Thomas’ promotes respect for others. In line with our commitment to democracy, pupils voice their opinions as we foster an environment where they can debate ideas and are safe to disagree with each other.

What does this look like at St Thomas’?

  • Our teaching and learning of the Catholic Social Teaching principle, 'Human Dignity.' Through our actions, we live out our faith and show God's love in action.
  • Explicitly linking 'Human Dignity' to other areas of our curriculum.
  • Reinforcing the value of everyone’s opinions in class debate.
  • An anti-bullying policy, including a child version one to ensure it is known and understood by all.
  • A school week dedicated to 'Anti-bullying and Friendship'.
  • Ensuring pupils know that every person is unique and “created in the image of God”.
  • An annual Sports Week where the values of sportsmanship and respect are actively taught
  • Annual Racial Justice Sunday assembly and related activities.
