Community and Participation

We live in a vibrant community, growing and learning together. We are called to be active members of society; our local and global community to help build a better world.
Mary's Meals
During Lent, we are called to pray, fast and give. As part of our ‘giving’ at St Thomas’, we are supporting Mary’s Meals. This charity was chosen by Year 5/6 following their work on Community and Participation as part of our Catholic Social Teaching focus this half term.
One of our governors and his son lead a workshop to tell the class all about the amazing work of Mary’s Meals. Their presentation sparked thoughtful questions, big conversations and fundraising ideas. Afterwards, Year 5/6 lead an assembly to tell the rest of the school what they had found out. They also explained how they were going to ‘put their faith into action’ and fundraise for this charity. Posters were designed to promote two events; the Number of Sweets in the Jar and a Non Uniform Day.
Carol Singing at Chelsea Football Ground
Foxes class were invited to perform Christmas Carols at a festive Christmas lunch hosted by Chelsea Football Club Foundation. This was a special lunch, attended by 500 people, for local charities and invited community residents.

Macmillan Coffee Morning
One of St Thomas' parishioners and a former parent and governor opened up her house for Macmillan Coffee Morning. She asked if she could continue the fundraising in our playground after school and of course we said yes!

CAFOD BIG Lent Walk 2025
In celebration of the Jubilee Year of Hope 2025, children wore their house t-shirts to recreate the Year of Hope logo as they took part in the CAFOD BIG Lent Walk. All money raised will support the work of CAFOD, our annual Lent charity.
As 'Pilgrims of Hope' during this Jubilee Year, we have tried to give more, fast more and pray more this Lent. As we walked from our school to the park, we were also able to enjoy the sunshine and the beauty of God's creation.

CAFOD BIG Lent Walk 2024
We took part in CAFOD's Big Lent Walk this Lent. By putting our faith into action, we are helping to fight global poverty and stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters around the world.
